All wildlife has merit of protection, Depending on the status of the individual species.
For example the Starling, this bird has had historic records of huge populations over many years, and for some branded as a pest due to the noise and fouling deposits particularly in the autumn when the birds flock together after the breeding season.
Unfortunately due to the way the environment has changed the starling has dropped in numbers and is on the “at risk” category along with other species.
Starlings are commensual in as much as they will live with humans in our roof and facia voids in some unlikely places and can become a nuisance and cause structural damage to buildings and fouling deposits can be a further health risk if left to build up.
Sericata Environmental Services are able to advise on the DEFRA /Natural England regulatory procedures regarding fully protected birds like the starling for instance and help find the best solution available.
